What's New in Your House: May 2021

New products are always being created, but some take longer than others to come to the market. We wanted to give you a sneak peek of what’s in store for 2021 that will have you scrambling to get it!

-Bacterial door hinges that keep your food safe from bacteria and other contaminants

-More efficient mortise locks with less bulkiness and more flexibility for different doors and a wider variety of handle types

-LCN door closers that allow you to close your doors without touching them. This is perfect for those who worry about their hands being contaminated or just want a more minimalist lifestyle.

Mortise Door Hinges: The Mortise Hinge has been around for centuries and is still highly popular among woodworkers today. When you install a Mortise Door Hinge it is necessary to cut a mortise (a rectangular hole) in one of the pieces of wood that are going to be hinged together so that the hinge can be inserted into this slot. This is the only kind of hinge that is practical for use on a wide, flat door.

Butt Hinges: The Butt Hinge is also referred to as the butt-and-tenon or full-mortise hinge. A Butt Hinge consists of two parts that are connected by means of an integral tenon at one end and a mortise in the other. This type of hinge may be inserted into a slot cut into the material you will be hinged. Continuous Hinge: A Continuous Hinge consists of a long, narrow strip of metal with projections at both ends that can slide into a slot in the object that it will be used on.

The mortise lock style is often mounted on doors that are located in wet environments like bathrooms or kitchens. The surface mount is suited for placement inside a frame and is often used for closers with an exposed trim plate or door stop. A concealed mount will be installed within the jamb’s false rabbet without showing any mounting hardware and is suitable only for LCN Door Closers.

An LCN door closer is a device that attaches to the top of a door to close it. They are most often used on interior doors, but they can be installed on exterior doors as well. Often times, these devices will also include mechanisms for locking and unlocking the door, in addition to being able to determine if someone is pushing from the inside or outside.

An LCN door closer is made up of several key components. Along the top of the device, there are small wheels that move in tandem with the door's opening and closing. This allows the door to open evenly with every movement. Along the bottom of the device, there is a hinge mechanism that allows the door to be opened and closed by moving from either side. These hinges are made up of two pieces that provide support as well as strength. There are also ratch mechanisms that allow for an adjustable sliding mechanism for equal tension on both sides of the door. Additionally, most LCN closers include a locking mechanism to prevent people or other animals from exiting or entering a building through an entryway
